What happend the beginning of 2008!

Christmas 2007!

We had a great Christmas, it was the first one time that we have had Josh Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. Josh and I made cookies and wrote a letter to Santa on Christmas Eve. Before bed Josh left some cookies, a glass of milk, a carrot, and the letter to Santa were Santa would easliy find them.

After Christmas Janis pointed out that there was a birds nest in the Christmas tree.

Christmas came and went and January followed right along.

January 2008

Tyler and I had a birthday party for Josh at a bowling alley. There were lots of kids, and even a few cousins there.

During the beginning of Januray Rose had her first encounter with peanut butter.

Bailey & Rose decided after the peanut butter was gone it was such hard work they needed a rest.

March 2008

Easter soon followed. We went with Ariel, Brian, and Emma to Ann Morison Park for an easter egg hunt, and Josh got to meet the Easter Pickle. Yes the Easter Bunny was there too.

Then Easter morning, the Easter Bunny had left little plastic eggs with clues & treats in them for Josh to follow. At the end of the trail was his Easter basket.

March/April 2008

As tax season came to an end Tyler had to get our camper up and running for the camping season. He attempted to burn his arm off, but only managed to singe a few hairs. Tyler went to start the propane oven for the first time this season and a flame came shooting out. I ran out and turned all gas off at the main line.

Tyler disasembled the oven and found the culprit. He repaired the line and put the oven back in the camper.

We also repaired the leaky exaust manifold in the pick-up truck this same week.

Towards the end of April we took Josh to his first Drag races.

During April we also worked on Janis's motor home. The front end was rotting off, so Tyler had to replace it with new wood.

Summer, Fall, and Winter 2008!

Wow you should all be amazed! We are updating the blog again within a 2 month period!

Well as most of you know we have been very busy. Tyler received woodworking machines/tools, so now is the proud owner of routers, a planner, table saws, clamps, etc. He was very excited to try them out, so played with random chunks of wood. He even made some pretty designs in an old wood broom handle.

We began our camping season the weekend of April 20th. This was our 1 year anniversary and my first tax season in an accountant’s office. Tyler went on the renewal, the yearly guys only camping/fishing trip, and it is the first "official" trip of the season. I think we managed one or two more times of camping before summer came along.

With gas prices so high over the summer we decided to work on the downstairs bathroom. This project was started when we first purchased the house, got put on hold so we could fix the downstairs bedroom and living area and has been on hold since. Then Anna found a great deal on Craigslist for granite tile. We went to look at the tiles found some we liked for the bathroom and they had such good prices Tyler said we should buy some for the counters in the kitchen.

All of the granite we purchased are 12x12 tiles. The granite that was purchased for the shower surround in the bathroom we got for $2 sqft. This usually sells for $10 sqft. The granite we bought for the counters in the kitchen was only $1 sqft, regularly $5-6 sqft. So a great deal. Since we purchased the granite we were all amped up to work on the bathroom so bought all the necessary remaining tiles for floors, accents, etc. This is when the bathroom again was put on hold...

Remember earlier I mentioned Tyler got woodworking tools. Well he decided it would be neat to try and update a kitchen cabinet door. He took one down and went to work on it with his new toys. Tyler failed to think that it would drive me nuts to have one cabinet door off/different then the rest, and so our bathroom project turned into our kitchen project.

This is what started the project!

So what started as the bathroom downstairs, turned into just updating the style of the cabinet doors and painting them, to gutting the kitchen, to gutting 1/2 the upstairs.


The poor job the previous owners had done with the kitchen bothered Tyler to the point of pulling cabinets off of the walls. Since the upper and lower cabinets were out we decided to tear the old vinyl flooring up. When we pulled the layers of flooring up, the bottom reveled hardwood. We decided that refinishing the hardwood would be cheaper then buying tile, so decided to salvage the wood. This then led to tearing up the flooring in the living and dining rooms, because there was more hardwood.

To make the refinishing of the hardwood easier Tyler decided we should pull it up. So we did. This revealed that the sub floor underneath was rotting and squeaking. So we replaced the old sub floor with new stuff.

It was during this project that Tyler managed to put a hole in the floor with his foot/leg, and a nasty hole in his knee.

We laid travertine tile in front of the front door.

We also got a new set of French doors to replace our old slider door.

We came to a stopping point before we finished laying the new sub floor, because we had to replace the water pipes in the kitchen with nice new copper.

We waited for money to work on the plumbing. When we finally had enough to purchase the copper pipes we began working on the kitchen plumbing. This is when the second major incident happened.

Tyler claims “Three black men came after me and beat me up, but I got a few punches in myself” What really happened though is his cutesy pipe wrench and cheater bar slipped off of the pipe and bashed him in the lip. This led to taking Tyler to the Doc-in-the-Box for stitches in his lip. Thank you, Janis and Steve for talking some sense into him on this matter.


Tyler’s lip is now healed and we finished the plumbing project without any more incidents. We laid the rest of the sub floor and now are putting up drywall in the kitchen.

For more then a little while now, we have been living in a construction zone. Bare stud walls, old sub floor, and no kitchen, dining, or living room. (Thank God we have a family room downstairs).

Along with working on the house we have managed to squeez more things in throughout the year. We went to a rock crawling exhibit outside of Nampa, helped our friend Ty work on his house, celebrated Halloween, and Christmas.

Since our upstairs is tore up we didn't get a real tree this year, so instead we put up Tyler's little 3ft tree in Josh's bedroom. (Notice the NASCAR theme)

Finally an update

Yeah, I know. Anna has been remiss in her blogging duties. So, I figured that I'd throw up a few pictures to pacify the natives.

So, we've been a little busy lately. I got Anna's french doors put in!

We went camping a few times this summer. Not as often as we'd hoped, but you know how that is.

Oh yeah, and my house is trying to kill me. Here is the aftermath of its most succesful attempt. Yeah, that's the ceiling... yeah, that's my blood on the nail head. I was lucky enough to extract myself (with Anna's help) before most of the blood started to flow.

December 17th

Well, the pup has been here since the 29th of November and is adjusting well. Bailey and the puppy play together, and think that when one has a toy or food it must be better then the identical one they have. So they walk around pretending not to notice and as soon as the other is gone SWIPE.

Josh loves the attention of two dogs. Now there are more race cars on the track :) at least in his mind. Rose and Bailey just think they are playing chase. Since Rose is slower then her buddies she frequently hides under the dinning room table or the coffee table and jumps out as Josh and Bailey are just passing her and darts to the next hide out.

Bailey and Rose spend their awake hours wrestling or chasing one another around. I have been amazed yet agian at how gentle Baiely is with those smaller then her. Bailey is such a pushover, Rose decides to eat Baileys dinner and Bailey stands back and looks to Tyler or myself for help, she wont push Rose out of the way herself.

Rose has learned qutie a bit in the short time we have had her. She has learned "No" and "Leave It." She has also learned how to use the dog doors. We only had one accident this past week and it was because the dogs weren't able to get outside.

Rose's newest trick is "Sit" I have her come to me and say sit, and as long as she isn't excited and Tyler's not around she will "Sit" on command. :) It's Puppys first words LOL.

The latest news in the Clements family....

For Thanksgiving Tyler's sister Susan and her family came to Boise and we had a blast with them. I always love it when Tyler's family comes to town. Their little one Paul is getting bigger and is a social butterfly. He has an attention-span similar to Josh: here one minute and gone the next.

For Thanksgiving we went over to Great Grandma's house, and we had Josh this time around. The turkey was wonderful along with all the rest of the food, lets just say afterwords I was stuffed like a bird. After lunch it was time to look at the sales ads and then it was time for pumpkin cheesecake and pies. (It was the first cheesecake I've made, it was OK but not great).

The next day Tyler and I stayed home. We decided that we weren't going to be participants of the Black Friday marathon and avoided stores as much as possible. We did run out to Petco in the afternoon though. Apparently Petco doesn't participate in Black Friday either, there weren't any sales and there weren't a whole lot of people or pets. Bailey helped pick out toys and treats for her and the new puppy.

The rest of the week was uneventful until Thursday the 29th. Thursday (well actually Friday) at 12am we picked up the puppy from the airport. We brought Bailey with us because we wanted them to meet on neutral territory. Bailey's first reaction was sniff sniff and then hide behind daddy's legs. The puppy's was hiding her head in my coat. On the car ride home the puppy was in her crate and Bailey was as far away from the puppy as she could possibly be in the back seat of the Honda. She also refused to look at me for the duration of the car ride.

When we got home we fed the dogs, gave them treats, then potty break and to bed. The next morning I had to go to work, so I got up at 7 fed the puppy did more potty breaks and got ready for work. Around noon Tyler brought the puppy by my work where she spent the rest of the afternoon. We got home Friday night and surprised Josh with the puppy, then it was play, play, play, eat, sleep, and around again.

Bailey is getting used to the puppy, they are now playing together and having fun. Bailey's still not too sure about sleeping together though. Puppy snuggles next and Bailey jumps up and heads for a new room.

When Tyler brings his computer home I will get some new pictures up...hopefully this week sometime. We lost our cable to the camera when we moved to the house in Nampa, so we have to download the photos via SD card on the laptop.

November Update

Hello everyone, it has been a while since I posted.

The first little bit of news is that I have been working full time for the last two weeks and am enjoying my job. I am working for both an accountant and a financial planner in Boise. Martha (the accountant) and Terry (the financial planner) decided to share an office and an assistant. :) So I am learning about the accounting world as well as the financial one.

Next Friday everyone in the office gets to "Rake Boise." We will be ridding two lawns of their leaves.

My birthday was on Wednesday, so I got to see Josh for that. We had a birthday party for me last Sunday at Janis and Steve's. Janis bought me a cheesecake, mmmm my favorite. Steve and Janis also got me a new faucet that I had asked for. Yeah, now I have a pretty faucet and don't have to go in to help Josh turn on the water.

Tyler has been busy with work and is enjoying it. He is working on various projects which is good for Tyler, because he gets bored otherwise.

Tyler has also been busy around the house. I am getting a puppy (Shhhh, Josh doesn't know about it yet) so he helped me stretch the chain link fencing on the kennel: we still have to finish the door. The picture above is of the new pup. We also had the light ballast in our walk-in closet go out, so he gets to replace that with a new light fixture.

For my birthday Tyler got me the shelving and a the new garbage can that I have been asking for. It has a foot thing you step on to open the lid. Now Bailey and the new puppy wont be able to go dumpster diving.

This week for my birthday he put up shelving on the other wall, and also put up a wall sconce: that took about 30min the shortest project to date. This week he also put in my new faucet, that was a bit of a headache. I figured it would take 30 min or so, it ended up taking all night and then the new P-trap that Tyler purchased was broken, so he did a quickie fix and the next day we went to Lowe's and got another one.

Tyler has been busy with other projects as well. Janis's motor home had some water damage that need to be fixed, unfortunately it turned into a bigger project then was expected. Tyler has been working on rebuilding the entire front bed. He has the floor and the sides done, but needs to finish the front and mount all of it.

For Halloween we bought Josh a football costume that he insists is BSU Broncos: he is actually a Denver Bronco because the store didn't have college teams . We didn't get him for Halloween or any trick-or-treating activities, so we let him wear his outfit all day the Saturday we had him.

On Saturday we watched the BSU game on TV. Josh doesn't quite understand the TV thing, he thought he was actually one of the football players on TV, since he was wearing his "BSU" Football Player costume and they kept announcing Joshua (one of the players' names) did this play or that.
